Our first stop Beenleigh Artisan Distillery is a standing monument of a legend. In operation since 1884, the site welcomes visitors to tour the tall stories of the building and learn the history of Australia’s oldest registered distillery and the people who made it into what it is today. From a lovable rogue called The Bosun to the experts of today, guests meet all the colourful characters that are part of the Beenleigh’s heritage. This artisan distillery is still producing the golden drink and keeps collecting awards for its products.
A short drive up the M1 to Wild Flower Gin is a small boutique distillery located in Burleigh on the Gold Coast. There award winning Signature Gin is a subtle balance of juniper, citrus and gentle hints of the distiller’s backyard honey. Their name, ‘Wild Flower’, is based on the subtle flavours added by our founder’s bees as they visit Burleigh’s flowers – allowing all our locals the ability to contribute to our gin with the flowers in their own backyards.
Not too far up the road we find ourselves at will be Grandad Jacks This guided distillery tour will introduce you to the gin-making process and the Gold Coast’s thriving craft spirit culture. Enjoy a gin and tonic on arrival and tastings of our award-winning spirits and liqueurs as you are guided through the distillery and introduced to the history of Granddad Jack, the processes involved in making our beloved spirits and given a behind the scenes tour of our family-owned distillery.
